Our guest speaker was The Hon. Justice Jennifer Smith of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, who launched our first Impact Report at the event. Our new website was also launched by Law Access Chairman and Director, The Hon. Malcolm McCusker AC QC.
The annual event recognised and celebrated the contributions of:
- pro bono lawyers who take Law Access referrals, including family, criminal and civil lawyers, members of the Law Access Lawyers for Refugees Network who take migration law referrals and members of the Law Access Lawyers for LGBTQI+ Network who take referrals from disadvantaged members of the LGBTIQ+ community;
- secondee lawyers who help Law Access merit assess applications for assistance (from Clayton Utz, Jackson McDonald, King & Wood Mallesons and MinterEllison);
- secondee legal assistants from Corrs Chambers Westgarth; and
- law students who volunteer their time as paralegals.
These people are the backbone of the service!
